The best trek in Everest region which gives opportunity to discover the both biggest valleys in the Khumbu area. This is also the best alternative to Everest base camp as with few extra days of walking there are lots extra to see. The trek also gives exposure to different villages and does not repeat the same way back. Gokyo is the most picturesque valley in Khumbu and located towards the west of traditional Everest Base Camp trail. The valley is famous for extensive pastureland for Yaks and the pristine turquoise blue lake where one can get breathtaking views. Gokyo Lake is also one of the highest fresh water lakes in the world. There are series of lakes in the Gokyo valley which formed a system. Not all of them are of significant size but six of them are quiet big and all of them are of glacial origin. After making the high pass of Cho-la the trail catch the route to Everest Base Camp and go to Everest Base Camp. The trail retraces back to Namche following the valley of Dudhkoshi and head back to Lukla from where one can fly out.

Things to remember before you book the treks

Package tour and trek rates can have different tiers, the trek routes stay the same accommodation and meals will change according to the tier you choose.

Flights to Lukla is totally weather dependent so in case the regular fight get cancelled we will suggest you the alternative itinerary or some time even the regular flight get cancelled but helicopters can go, on that case clients have to pay the difference.

Beware of catchy marketing policies, some body offering too good to be true prices are not at all what they seem like.

Altitude sickness kills people, our itineraries are based on years of experience operating the treks in the Himalayan regions and best cover normal trekkers, don’t shorten your trek due to the lack of budget or time. Pick a shorter trek and make a better out of it.

Do some researches, somebody offering too cheap and too fast might be engaged in different types of scams all resulting in the unsuccessful completion of your trip. Our motto is the successful completion of your trip once you are in our hands.

Gokyo Valley with Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, a capital city of Nepal located at 1300m above sea level. On your proper time you will be picked up from airport and check in in the hotel where you stay.

Day 02: introductory trip to Kathmandu including sightseeing of One of the old palace complex, popular by the name Patan Durbar square, a Buddhist temple popular by the name monkey temple among the foreigners but is called Swoyambhunath and a Hindu temple Pashupatinath, a popular cremation ground for many hindus of Kathmandu. All these places are listed by UNESCO as world heritages. Afternoon time free for doing trek preparation.

Day 03: early morning flight to Lukla(2800m) and easy 3-4 hours walk to Phakding (2652m) and overnight stay there.

Day 04: A climb uphill to Namchebazar (3440m) with the first glimpse of Mount Everest on the way. Might take 5-6 hours with normal walking speed and trail crosses one of the popular river from Everest area.Namchebazar considered a gateway to Everest and one of the populous village of this trekking area. Quiet a variety of shops, guest houses and stores available here.

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namchebazar. On this acclimatization day you can opt for either take an excursion trip to Syangboche and Everest View Hotel, have a cup of coffee there and back to Namche and take a rest there or you can hike to Thame and walk back to Namche by evening.

Day 06: Trek from Namchebazar to Dole (4200m). The trek ascends at the beginning to go to the top of Namchebazar from where one can observe the breathtaking view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Amadablam and Thamserku. Continue to Kyangjuma and leaving the trail towards basecamp and follow uphill till the ridge. After the ridge descend down to the river bank and continue go upstream to reach Dole and overnight stay there. Normally takes 5-6 hours of walking.

Day 07: Trek from Dole to Machharmo (4470m). Continue walking uphill leads to ridge, the vegetation keep changing and very less trees and shrubs. Practically above Dole they do not produce any type of food. Some small tea shops available to stop for a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. After walking 5-6 hours continuously observing snowcapped mountains reach Machharmo for overnight stay.

Day 08: Trek from Machharmo To Gokyo(4790m). The trail ascends at the beginning and enters in a flat boulders’ valley of Gokyo, a group of lake form the important part of valley and major attraction of the valley. Tea houses and lodges are concentrated on the side of the third lake. Take 4 to 4.5 hours. Rests of the afternoon wander around the lake side. The color of the lake keeps changing with different intensity of sunlight.

Day 09: Relax and acclimatization day at Gokyo lake. As reward of what you have made you get a total relax in Gokyo Lake. You can go up to fifth lake. These lakes are famous for its turquoise blue color.

Day 10: Hike to Gokyo-Ri (5330m) and trek to Thaknak (4700m). Superb view of Everest region from GokyoRi. After visiting Gokyori it descends to Thaknak and normally takes 6-7 hours the whole journey.

Day 11: Trek from Thaknak to Cho La Pass(5420m) and continue to Dzongla(4830m). One of the challenging day of the whole trip as people supposed to make a pass before noon because afternoons are quiet windy and chilly. Carry a packed lunch and from the pass one can see an incredible view of Cholatse and Amadablam.

Day 12: Trek from Dzongla to Gorakshep (5140m). Descending a little at the beginning and crossing the river and ascend and continue to join the regular route of Everest base camp little above Thokla. Making a Thokla pass trek continues to Lobuche and Gorakshep.

Day 13: Visit Everest base camp (5350m) and trek back to Lobuche (4910m). Hike to Everest base camp, have a cup of tea, coffee with apple pie and back to Gorakshep and trek down to Lobuche. Overnight stay at Lobuche.

Day 15: Trek from Lobuche to Tyangboche (3860m). It takes normally 6-7 hours of walking to reach Tyangboche. One of the best mountain view point to see Everest panorama and also has one of the biggest monastery of Khumbu region.

Day16: Trek back to Namchebazar (3440m) from Tyangboche via Khumjung. Takes about 7 hours with a visit to Khumjung, one of the biggest village of Khumburegion and have beautiful monastery.

Day 17: Trek toLukla (2800m) from Namchebazar. The trail descends sharply at the beginning and follow a river downstream crossing Monjo and Phakding. Takes 6-7 hours and take a rest in hotel at Lukla.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla and afternoon free for doing last minute shopping and if you are interested you can take an optional tour to visit some monuments in Kathmandu.

Day 19: On a proper hour transfer to airport for the final departure.
