One of the popular peak from the Everest area having an elevation of 6165m. The peak is located in between mount Amadablam and Mount Everest as well as Lhotse. This peak considered as origin of the Chhukung glacier also. Climbing Island peak give an opportunity to go up to Everest basecamp and Kalapathhar then make an ascent to this peak on the way back from Everest base camp. The spectacular view from the summit is of course a great reward for the summiteers. This peak is especially famous for observing Everest and its surroundings. The trek to the area gives opportunity to observe pristine Sherpa villages, rhododendron forest and a beautiful monastery of Tyangboche and also covers the popular Everest view point Kalapathhar.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, a capital city of Nepal located at 1300m above sea level. On your proper time you will be picked up from airport and check in in the hotel where you stay.
Day 02: Introductory trip to Kathmandu including sightseeing of One of the old palace complex, popular by the name Patan Durbar square, a Buddhist temple popular by the name monkey temple among the foreigners but is called Swoyambhunath and a Hindu temple Pashupatinath, a popular cremation ground for many hindus of Kathmandu. All these places are listed by UNESCO as world heritages. Afternoon time free for doing trek and climb preparation.
Day 03: Early morning flight to Lukla(2800m) and easy 3-4 hours walk to Phakding (2652m) and overnight stay there.
Day 04: A climb uphill to Namchebazar (3440m) with the first glimpse of Mount Everest on the way. Might take 5-6 hours with normal walking speed and trail crosses one of the popular river from Everest area.Namchebazar considered a gateway to Everest and one of the populous village of this trekking area. Quiet a variety of shops, guest houses and stores available here.
Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namchebazar. On this acclimatization day you can opt for either take an excursion trip to Syangboche and Everest View Hotel, have a cup of coffee there and back to Namche and take a rest there or you can hike to Thame and walk back to Namche by evening.
Day 06: Trek from Namchebazar to Tyangboche(3867m). The trek descends to Phunketenga (3250m) and again goes uphill to reach Tyangboche, which houses one of the popular Buddhist monastery of this area. 4-5 hours of walk and this will be second biggest climb for this trip.
Day 07: Trek to Pheriche (4250m), takes normally 6 hours and it is a gentle climb throughout a day.
Day 08: Acclimatization day in Pheriche. You can take a rest in hotel or can make some side trips to observe the last village to see some farming or climb some nearby peaks to prepare your body for higher elevation.
Day 09: Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche(4910 m). Trek ascends slowly making a Thokla pass and takes normally 5-6 hours walk.
Day 10: Trek from Lobuche to Gorekshep (5160m) takes couple of hours and hike to Everest Base camp (5350m) take a tea break, observe base camp and back to Gorekshep for overnight stay.
Day 11: Early morning hike to Kalapatthar, the best Everest view point of the trek where normally people go for sunrise with Everest Himalayan range, come down for breakfast and trek back to Dingboche (4350m.) and overnight stay there.
Day12: Trek to Chhukung (4750m.), Chhukung is the last small village of the area, and overnight stay there.
Day 13: Trek to Island peak base camp (5150m.) from Chhukung. It is an easy climb and takes normally 3-4 hours. Overnight stay in tent.
Day 14: Trek from Island peak basecamp to high camp (5600m.), 2-3 hours climb.
Day 15: Trek from high camp to Summit (6165m.) and trek back to Chhukung for overnight stay.
Day 16: Trek back to Tyangboche from Chhukung.
Day 17: Trek to Namche (3440m.).
Day 18: Trek to Lukla and overnight stay there.
Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu and afternoon free.
Day 20: Spare day in Kathmandu, to do last minute shopping or do some optional trip to go to Bhaktapur and Boudhnath. You can simply enjoy free day in Kathmandu on your own.
Day 21: On a proper hour transfer to airport for the final departure.
