Tipping guideline in Nepal
For many of our customers it is very difficult to decide how much to tip for different people who are engaged for their service during their different holiday trip. Many clients feel uneasy and even disappointed regarding the tip. Many people they are curious to know how much is the nominal tip in these countries. Depend with the service they provide, duration of service, professionalism, knowledge, level of hospitality client receives are the major factors for calculation of tip. We are providing guidelines so our valuable clients get idea about the nominal tip. We provide guideline doesn’t mean client has to leave the tip to our staff what we suggest. The clients themselves can decide independently regarding this matter. Our guidelines help our clients to calculate and plan their budget. Many people have their major part of the income is tip so we appreciate our client leave tip to the respective persons. As cash is hard to control, if you leave tip in gross to only one person, there might be the case not all the staffs will get a tip. Regarding the hotels they have a tip box normally near by the reception or check in/ check out area, where you can leave a tip and the money accumulated there is divisible among all the employees at the end of the month. Many hotels and restaurants are now charging 10% of the bill as tip to staffs. If this is the case the client doesn’t need to leave tip or it is up to them they can leave something voluntarily. Bell boys seem exceptions as they deserve extra tip as they transfer your luggage to your room. The following table shows the guidelines to tip to different professionals but it is always up to client to leave more or less than the guideline we provide.
