Drukpath trek is one of the popular treks from Bhutan. The trail passes through the forest and villages. This is considered beginners trek and located in between Paro and Thimpu. The trek is very ideal for people who doesn’t like to spend many days in trekking or doesn’t have time to do so. The trek combines with cultural trip in Bhutan so giving insight into the Bhutanese landscape and culture. Depending with the weather one can observe the best view of mountains as the trail passes through the beautiful Mountain View points and lakes. Drukpath trek is the most easy and popular trek in Bhutan which passes through beautiful natural landscapes, forest of rhododendron and blue pine. The trek also offer visit to ancient Lakkhangs, Dzongs, settlements and pristine lakes. The trek has a spectacular view of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unclimbed mountain of the world.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Paro, after pass through immigration and collection of your baggage, meet our guide/representative and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Paro valley excursion. Sightseeing of DrukgyalDzong, constructed by ShabdrungNgawangNamgyal in 17th century, as a memorial of his victory against Tibetan invaders. Continue visit to KyichuLakhang, the most sacred shrine of Bhutan. Afternoon time continue visit to Ta Dzong which houses a national museum. Ta Dzong is originally constructed as observation tower which overlooks the Paro valley. The visits continue to Rinpungdzong, also popular by the name ParoDzong.

Day 03: Hike to tiger’s nest, Takshang Monastery, one of the major attractions of Bhutan. Lunch is provided at the view point cum tea house with spectacular view of the monastery. After visiting monastery hike down and drive to Paro.

Day 04: Trek from Paro to JeleDzong, 3-4 hours of easy walking. The day is considered easy and short. The camp place overlooks Paro valley and if weather permits a beautiful view of snowcapped mountains are also observed.

Day 05: Trek from JeleDzong to Janchulakha, 3-4 hours of walking covering about 10 km. The trail ascends at the beginning and passes through rhododendron forest. Good view of Jomolhari and other snowcapped mountain.Yak herders are frequently observed during the trek. Overnight stay in the tented camp.

Day 06: Trek from Janchulakha to Jimllangsho, 4-5 hours of easy walking. The trail normally follows the ridge with spectacular view of mountains and valley together. The view of Mt. Jichu Drake which represents protective deity of Paro is observed during the day. The camp is located next to the lake Jimllangtsho.

Day 07: Trek from Jimllangtsho to Simkota, 3-4 hours of walking. The trail passes through rhododendron forest and reaches to Lake Janetsho. Overnight camp is located next to the Simkotalake.

Day 08: Trek from Simkota to Phajoding, 4 hours of easy walking covering about 10 kms. The trail ascends at the beginning and descends down through Juniper forest. Overnight stay at Phajoding in camp or cafeteria, normally depend with the weather.

Day 09: Trek from Phajoding to Thimpu, 2 hours walking. The easiest day of the whole trekking, but passes through beautiful scenery and forest.  After reaching Thimpu, check in in the hotel and afternoon free to take a rest.

Day 10: Thimpu Sightseeing and Drive to Paro. Visit to national memorial chhorten, Tashichhodzong in the morning. Afternoon visit to National library and handicraft emporium and drive to Paro.

Day 11: Departure from Paro.
