Mera peak(6476m.) located in the Everest area is one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal. Climbing Mera is one of the challenging and demanding but non-technical climb. It gives a real adventure experience and from summit gives a spectacular view of Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse and Mt Makalu. The trail passes through less crowded and untouched valley compared to other peaks in Everest area. The person with normal physical condition can make the trip. The best season for this trip is from September to December and from March to June. The following itinerary is well designed to give ample time for acclimatization of each individual.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu. After you arrive to Kathmandu airport our representative will pick you up and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Introductory trip to Kathmandu. Sightseeing of one of the old palace complex, popular by the name Patan Durbar square, a Buddhist temple popular by the name monkey temple among the foreigners but is called Swoyambhunath and a Hindu temple Pashupatinath, a popular cremation ground for many hindus of Kathmandu. All these places are listed by UNESCO as world heritages. Afternoon time free for doing trek preparation. Pre-trip gathering is normally organized by company. Check for details when you arrive to Kathmandu.

Day 03: Early morning scenic flight to Lukla and trek to Chhutanga (3050m.). Lukla considered gateway to Everest area, a short flight to Lukla, the porters make ready your bags and continue walking to reach Chhutanga. Normally takes 4-5 hours to reach the destination.

Day 04: Trek from Chhutanga to Thulikharka (4100m.) via Zatrawala pass (4610m.). It takes about 6-7 hours of walking but the trail is quiet steep to reach the Zatrawala pass. The view of Numbur, KongdeRi and Karyolung from the pass. After making the pass descends down to Thulikharka for overnight stay.

Day 05: Trek from Thulikharka to Mosomkharka (3700m.). 5-6 hours of walking. The trail mainly passes through the forest of rhododendron, pine and juniper.

Day 06: Trek from Mosomkharka to Thangnag (4360m.). 4-5 hours of walking. The trek ascends to reach Gondishung and continue to Thangnag.

Day 07: Rest and acclimatization day at Thangnag.

Day 08: Trek from Thangnag to Khare (5000m.). 5-6 hours of walking following the lateral morains of Hinkushar Glacier and HinkuNup Glacier. The last part of the trek is steep climb. Once you reach the Khare, a magnificent view of north face of Mera.

Day 09: Trek to Mera base camp (5300.) from Khare, 3-4 hours of walking. The trail ascends through a Mera glacier crossing a Mera La pass (5415m.). The climb is quiet steep just before reaching the base camp.

Day 10: Trek to Mera high camp (5700m.), 3-4 hours of walking. The trail is rocky with lot of boulders and often snow covered. The view of Mt Everest, Nuptse, Makalu, Choyu and Baruntse is spectacular from the high camp.

Day 11: Summit Mera peak (6461m.) and trek down to Khare. The most important day of the trip starts early in the morning (sometimes 3 o’clock in the morning) and reach the summit before noon as afternoons are quiet windy and chilly. After reaching the summit trek down the Khare for overnight stay.

Day 12: Contingency day at high camp. If the weather doesn’t look promising can opt for staying at high camp one extra day and give a try the next day.

Day 13: Trek down from Khare (5000m.) to Kothe (4180m.).

Day 14: Trek to Thulikharka (4300m.), 6-7 hours of walking. The trail is a gentle ascend and passes through rhododendron forest and patch of Juniper and pine also visible. Overnight stay at Thulikharka.

Day 15: Trek from Thulikharka to Lukla via Zatrawala pass (4610m.), takes 6-7 hours of walking.  The last day of walking climb at the beginning to reach the pass and descend down to Lukla. Farewell to the crew and overnight stay at Lukla.

Day 16: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and free day in Kathmndu. Normally the flights are in the morning and afternoon in Kathmandu is free to do last minute shopping, go for massage or do some optional tours in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Departure from Kathmandu. On a proper time transfer to airport to take a flight to another destination or sign up for our next trip.

One of the easiest climb that reaches to high elevation and success rate is quiet high. The scenery during the trek to reach the base camp is also very beautiful.
