Kathmandu becoming a capital of Nepal is a center for Nepal’s political, economic, spiritual and cultural life. The valley is located at an elevation of around 1300m. above sea level. Kathmandu is also a largest piece of flat ground in the hilly region of Nepal. With a six different UNESCO world heritage site in relatively very small area, it is often considered "open air museum". Originally Kathmandu valley was divided into three different kingdoms, the capital of whose are now popular by the name Durbar squares namely Kathamandu durbar square, Patan durbar square and Bhaktapurdurbar square. All these durbar squares are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO. Kathmandu also houses two popular Buddhist temples; they are Swoyambhunath, located towards the western part of Kathmandu and equally popular by the name monkey temple among the foreigners. Swoyambhunath is also popular view point of Kathmandu valley as in a clear day more than 60% of Kathmandu is visible from here. Boudhanath, another popular Buddhist temple located totally inside the town on northern part of Kathmandu. The history of Boudhanath is traced up to 5th century.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu. After you land in Kathmandu, get Nepal visa if you do not have it previously, collect your bag and come outside, our guide or representative waiting with your name page, find him/her. After meeting guide transfer to your hotel and rest of the day free to take rest and get over from jetlag.

Day 02: After breakfast start a trip visiting different world heritage site by UNESCO. Visit the durbar square in Kathmandu, one of the valleys tourist attractions, full of temples and old palace complex. Kathmandu durbar square is also popular by the name Hanuman dhoka durbar. The main temples are Taleju temple, Kalbhairav Temple, Jagannath temple, Kumaribahal, Maru Ganesh and Swetbhairav. Durbar square is also famous for its beautiful courtyards. After visiting Durbar square visit to Swoyambhunath, one of the popular Buddhist temple and also a view point to see the Kathmandu valley. Continue visit to Kirtipur, a mediaeval town located towards western part of Kathmandu. This newar town is very famous for its Baghvairab temple from 11th century and Umamaheswor temple from 17th century. The Buddhist stupa of Chhilancho from 15th century is a center of worship for Buddhist community from Kirtipur.

Day 03: Start sightseeing with visit to Boudhanath, a biggest stupa of south Asia and one of the biggest in the world. The history of the stupa dates back to 5th century, and this is simple, massive and powerful, it rises over a huddle of buildings and the painted eyes in all four directions. Continue visit to Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu temple, the main shrine is closed for foreigners but people go there to see the last rituals, funerals and cremation of the dead bodies. Located on the bank of holy BagmatiRiveris an open cremation platform and public can see cremation going on the pyre right in front of them. Afternoon time continue visit to Patan Durbar Square, another palace complex with full of temples next to palace. The famous temples are Harishankar temple, Charnarayan temple, Krishna temple and Bhimsen temple. Ten minuts walk from Durbar square there is an only five tier temple of Patan famous by the name Kumbheswor temple is located. On the way back from Kumbheswor, visit to golden temple, a Buddhist temple popular by the name Hiranya Varna Mahavihar. A visit to a Patan fair trade center for Pashmina is recommended. If somebody interested with Tibetan rugs can go to Tibetan Refugee camp, observe how they make it and export to different European countries.

Day 04: After Breakfast Check out from the hotel in Kathamndu and go for a sightseeing of Changunarayan temple, one of the world heritage site by UNESCO and a popular small village of Changu located on the hill top. After Changunarayanvisit to a mediaeval town of Bhaktapur, the city is founded in 8th century and famous for its palaces and temples with wood carvings. The main attractions are Dattatraya Square with temple of three main gods from Hinduism Dattatraya, Taumadhi square with tallest temple for Siddhilaxmi and Bhairav temple, the old palace complex of Bhaktapur is famous for its 55 windowed palace, the statue of king BhupatindraMalla, Batsala Temple, YakhesworMahadev containing a lot of erotic carvings and Chyasingdewal, the only octagonal temple of Bhaktapur. Later visit to a traditional painting school to know about different Buddhist paintings and the way they were teaching Buddhism to lay people in the past. After visiting Bhaktapur continue journey to Nagarkot for overnight stay.

Day 05: After a beautiful sunrise view with snowcapped mountains and breakfast, hike down to Pipalbot or Telkot to observe the rural lifestyle of the people. This walk gives idea of the typical Nepali life in the villages. Later drive to Dhulikhel, another beautiful town located in the friendship highway. Visit Dhulikhel and overnight at Lodge in Dhulikhel.

Day 06: Another opportunity to observe the sunrise with snowcapped mountains. Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Namobuddha where one of the biggest monastery is located. Visit to Namobuddha monastery and drive to Panauti or hike to Panauti. Panauti is a newar town built near the auspicious confluence of two streams, the Rosi and Punyamati. Famous for its IndresworMahadev temple, the oldest existing example of Newari temple dates back to 1294. On the confluence of the two rivers one can see the collection of temples for Krishna, Radha and Rukmani and Brahmayani. After visiting Panauti drive back to Kathmnadu.

Day 07: Departure from Kathmandu. On a proper time our lovely representative or your guide pick you up for the airport transfer and drop you to the airport.

The tour practically is sightseeing and some small walking. The tour takes to some small important towns nearby Kathmandu also.
