Is it very tough going to the Everest Base Camp?

Difficulty Level of Everest Base camp Trek

Many of the adventure seekers have a dream at least once in their lifetime to reach Everest Base Camp. Lots of people like to climb Everest but there are lots of constraints to reach the top, as it is not that cheap to climb Everest. Going to the Everest Base Camp for people with normal physical condition is not that difficult as people think. The easy and the most lazy way to reach there but the only way for people who doesn’t like to walk is  taking a chopper trip to the flank of Kalapathhar. A helicopter lands just above the last teahouses located at more or less at the elevation of 5200 meters. The flank where the helicopter land is one of the best view points to see Everest. One can see the beautiful range of Everest area from there. Besides Everest many of the other popular peak like Pumori, Nuptse are also visible from there. Get down from the helicopter for few minutes, get some clicks of Everest area and get in again gives you a quick look of the area. The helicopter then fly back to Everest View Hotel and give ample time for the passengers to gaze upon the view of Everest with a set of breakfast. Everest is protected area and part of the national park, the park authorities catch people landed in Everest View Hotel and make them pay the national park entry permit.

Forgetting about going to the Everest Base Camp in helicopter opens another chapter in your life.  Pack up things, come to Kathmandu, and catch an early morning flight to Lukla, a gateway to Everest that is operated either from Kathmandu or from Ramechhap. As the plane crosses Lamjura and lands at Lukla everybody coming out from the airport you will get amazed with view of the surroundings and a queue of enthusiastic people seems looking for their relatives to come out. Every person who lands there get a surprise what these people are doing here. Actually these are the porters who are looking for their potential customers. As for many of trekking companies based in Kathmandu they can’t send their porters in flight from Kathmandu to Lukla so they hire them directly from there. If you have signed up a trip with good company your guide would have accompanied you from Kathmandu and helped you to sort out the things in airports. To make the corners cut and reduce the cost the cheaper company doesn’t buy tickets for your guide and they might be waiting there in Lukla as well.  Packing up the things and make ready load for the porters you get sufficient time to drink a cup of first tea, coffee, hot lemon, hot chocolate in the Everest area that will eventually cost you more than a dollar. Walk for around three hours you will get into the village Phakding where most of the people spend their first night in the mountain. The tough day of the whole trip is the second day. Climbing from Phakding to Namchebazar takes 7-8 hours for novice trekkers. The rest day in Namche is highly appreciated. Continue your journey to base camp gives you enough days to see Everest from different angles, elevation and perspectives.
