Tamang Heritage Trek

Tamang Heritage Trek

The Tamang Heritage Trail is one of the new coming and interesting destination for many of the trekkers as it is off the bitten track and less people who go there. Tamangs are indigenous hill tribe concentrated in the higher elevation surrounding Kathmandu valley or in the high mountains of central Nepal. Tamang people have a saying they need to receive a cool air from the snowcapped mountains so there settlements are always in the higher elevations. These people survived traditionally with only millet, wheat, barley and potatoes. Rice supposed to be of important delicacy prepared only during the festivals in the past, but now the knowledge and perception keep on changing. Practically they are farmers and follow Buddhism. With intermingling of Hinduism and Buddhism now lots of them follow good things from both religions. This trek gives an idea for trekkers to observe still not spoilt traditional lifestyle of this hill tribe. The trek is also popular for observing their traditional attires, festivals and dances.
