Jamacho hike
Jamacho hike is an excellant hike very near from the city. Jamacho hike gives an amazing opportunity to discover the nature around Kathmandu. There are four great hills nearby Kathmandu namely Phulchoki, Shivapuri, Chandragiri and Nagarjun. The highest hill surrounding Kathmandu is Phulchoki and the smallest is Nagarjun. Jamacho is actually a small Buddhist shrine located at the top of the Nagarjun hills. Accessible by dirt road also but mainly people are going doing the hiking there. A short drive from the city center on the Kathmandu Trishuli highway also popular by the name Pasang Lhamu highway after the name of the first nepalese women who climbed Mt. Everest. one can easily reach Fulbari gate. In Fulbari gate, an army checkpost is located. Buy the ticket to the national park as Jamacho is inside the Shivpuri-Nagarjun national park. A continuous uphill hike about 2-3 hours covering 5kms of distance takes to the place called Jamacho. The bird's eye view of Kathmandu valley and snow capped mountains( in clear weather) are tereffic from Jamachok. There is a small monastery to Padmasambhav is located on the top as well. Local peoples go there to do the prayers and to offer the butter lamp to the Guru Rimpoche. sighting of the different animals and birds also very common. The natural beauty on the way is unimaginable. After reaching the top one can do meditation on their own, read a book, click some pictures and hike down the same way to reach Fulbari gate. The vehicle waiting down there pick up the people and transfer to the respective hotel.
